DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) is a macromolecule carrying the genetic information necessary for cell functioning. Chemically, DNA consists of two long chains of nucleotides, twisted in a double helix. This is the alternation of the four types of nucleic acid (Adenine [A], Thymine [T], Cytosine [C] and Guanine [G]) along the DNA backbone that encodes genetic information.
