Nile Red (Nile Blue A oxazone, Phenoxazone 9) is an excellent vital fluorescent stain for the detection of intracellular lipid dropletsin the presence of a hydrophobic environment. Nile Red is applied for staining intracellular lipids, hydrophobic domains of proteins and lysosomal phospholipid inclusions.
