Etoposide is a semisynthetic derivative of podophyllotoxin, which inhibits DNA synthesis via topoisomerase II inhibition activity which enhances double-strand and single-strand cleavage of DNA and reversibly inhibits repair by topoisomerase II binding. Etoposide induces autophagy, mitophagyand apoptosis.
