This new non-fluorescent quencher has a broad absorbance spectrum (ranging between 570 and 680 nm) centered around 650 nm which effectively overlaps the emission maxima of popular reporter dyes, especially long wave emitters, such as TAMRA, Cy® 3, ROX, and Cy® 5. The Deep Dark Quencher II and Blackberry® Quencher are similar in their photo-quenching abilities.
